Scream And Run Maps Hub

Two maps, two monsters, one escape.

Maps Hub

Scream And Run currently features two live maps: the School and the Mines. Each map has its own layout, monster, hiding mechanics, and average clear time. This hub page compares them side by side so you can choose the right environment for your next run or understand what to expect when the rotation switches.

Both maps share the same core objective: find five keys, open the exit, and escape before the hunter catches you. Everything else — the terrain, the pacing, the hiding spots — changes significantly between the two.

School Map

The School launched on 25 August 2026 as the game’s launch map. It is a multi-floor educational facility with classrooms, hallways, a gymnasium, library, and basement utility corridors. The Cat in the Hat patrols all floors on foot, checking classrooms, lockers, and storage spaces with broad coverage.

Best for: Players who know the locker-desk hiding meta, prefer short rounds, and want to earn the standard Escape and No Power Escape badges.

Mines Map

The Mines arrived on 3 September 2026 as the first major content update. It is a sprawling underground shaft system with a central hub chamber and four branching tunnels. Dark Thomas patrols the tunnels on rails, with larger audio range and barricade-breaking ability but predictable movement along track lines.

Best for: Players who want a longer, more routing-intensive experience, prefer environmental hiding over locker mechanics, and are looking for the current biggest challenge in the game.

Choosing Between Maps

Both maps are permanent additions to Scream And Run. The game rotates between them in Escape and Free Roam queues. Here is how to decide which environment suits you:

Choose the School if:

  • You are new to the game and want to learn the core loop
  • You prefer short, snappy rounds (~4 minutes)
  • You rely on lockers and desks as your primary hiding spots
  • You want to earn the standard Escape badges

Choose the Mines if:

  • You have mastered the school loop and want a bigger challenge
  • You prefer longer, more strategic routing decisions
  • You enjoy environmental hiding (coal piles, grates, alcoves) over furniture-based hiding
  • You want to learn the hub Light Switch mechanic and tunnel branching logic

Map Rotation

Both School and Mines appear in normal Escape and Free Roam queues. The game selects one map per round. There is currently no way to manually select which map you play — it is determined by the queue rotation.

A third map called the Train has been teased on the developer’s X account (@AimlessEddy) but has no confirmed release date. The updates hub will carry the date if one is announced.

Getting Started for the core loop. How to Escape for the full run plan applicable to both maps. Keys and Backpacks for container mechanics that apply to both maps.

FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

Quick answers to the most common questions.

How many maps does Scream And Run have?

Two live maps as of September 2026: the School (launch) and the Mines (September 2026 update). A third Train map has been teased but has no release date.

What is the biggest map in Scream And Run?

The Mines map is the biggest, measuring approximately 1.8x the walkable footprint of the School. Average clear time on the Mines is 7–9 minutes versus 4 minutes on the School.

Can I choose which map to play?

No. The game rotates between School and Mines automatically in Escape and Free Roam queues. There is no manual map selection at this time.

Do the standard Escape badges work on both maps?

Yes. Both the Escape The Cat In The Hat and Escape The Cat In The Hat With No Power On badges resolve to the School universe. The Mines use the same five-key objective but badge criteria are tied to the School.

What is the Light Switch mechanic in the Mines?

The Light Switch is in the central hub chamber of the Mines map. When activated, it brightens the hub for 45 seconds and provides an audio cue indicating which tunnel Dark Thomas will spawn into next. It is the primary scouting tool for the Mines.
